Stepping out and starting something new can be scary. There is the unknown of how things will go, what will people think or say, what if I fail, all those questions go through your mind at once. Sometimes the thoughts become so loud that you don’t even step out to try but you owe yourself that much. You owe it to yourself to say you tried. You owe it to yourself to say you did it. Stop self sabotaging before even trying. If I would have listened to all the negative voices in my head and from the outside world, you would not be reading this post or any other post. I had to stop living in fear. Fear was ruling me for a very long time. How can I say I believe and trust in God but allow fear to dictate my actions.

I always heard elders in church say faith without works is dead(James 2:20) I never understood what that meant until now. You believe in God and you say you trust in Him but you aren’t doing your part. When I was younger I wouldn’t study for the test but pray before and expect to do great. I didn’t do my part but expected God to help me remember what I did not study. Even if I would’ve done a little bit, it would’ve helped. You want new job, you’re trusting God to grant you favor in the interview but did you prepare? Preparation is so important. That’s the work part. You want God to do all these miraculous things which are possible but that is not how faith works.

That’s how I am able to post these blog entries and post content on instagram. I had the faith to step out and do this new thing that I have never done before but knowing that God would be there with me. If I did the work. If I took the time and write. If I took the time and plan. If I took the time to be consistent, despite how I feel and despite what it looks like. It may not always look the way you expected it to look or you may not get the response that you wanted but that shouldn’t matter. Do it anyway because it’s something you know you could do. You won’t fail or succeed if you do not step out into the unknown. With failing comes learning and growth. You’re not going to grow if you do not try.

If you are someone wanting to start a new venture in life, a new hobby, a new career path, a new commitment, a new relationship, a new diet, a new journey, a new idea, write it down and get it done. Think about how you want to do, what do you need to start, what’s the purpose or goal and how are you going to obtain that goal. If you don’t believe in you, who else will?
